WOS Chairman to speak on Radio Wiltshire about u-turn on forests
February 17, 2011 by wosuser
You may have already heard the news: the Government has backed down on the plan to sell off Forestry Commission woodlands. The strength of public opinion seems to have come as a surprise to Ministers. Nearly half a million people signed the 38 degrees petition asking for a rethink, an initiative supported by people from all strata of society. The main views expressed were that forests should not be sold to commercial buyers because new owners might not maintain public access, might fell the trees or fail to conserve woodlands for wildlife.
Tune in to Radio Wiltshire at 09.45 tomorrow and listen to WOS Chairman, Christine Johnson talking about the latest news and how it affects WOS members.
