Description: John Pollard Memorial Lecture
Peter has been studying Bristol’s roof-nesting gulls since 1980 and throughout this time has been involved in international gull research at a high level. For the last 15 years he has been the co-ordinator for the colour-marking of the large gulls for all of the Bird Ringing Schemes in Europe (Euring). He is the author of several scientific papers on the subject (including the Lesser Black-backed Gull pages in the Migration Atlas) and has acted as consultant to various authorities on roof-nesting gulls. WOS commissioned Peter’s surveys of roof-nesting gulls in Wiltshire in 2003, 2004 and 2009.

Description: OPEN MEETING TO REVIEW PROGRESS TOWARDS THE NEW WILTSHIRE TETRAD ATLAS

The meeting will begin with a review of progress so far on the atlas project, including a Power Point presentation showing some of the significant trends that have emerged after the third winter’s fieldwork, both nationally and at county level. We will also revisit the results from the first two breeding season’s surveys and highlight the areas we particularly need to focus on going into the third summer. This will be followed by a presentation by a member of the Wiltshire Tetrad Atlas planning group on the plans for the new county atlas.

If you have not previously been involved in the fieldwork for the atlas, this will be your opportunity to come along and see how we operate, what has been achieved so far and how you can play a part in this major new WOS project.
