IMPORTANT . There have been several incidents recently where birders - whether WOS members or not - have blatantly disregarded signs not to access restricted areas of the countryside. This has included entering danger areas on Salisbury Plain when the red flag has been flying and ignoring safety signs at the Cotswold Water Park. WOS expects all members to observe the rules, regulations and byelaws regarding access to the countryside. This is especially important when birding in areas where there is a safety issue. Safety signs are there for your protection and it is irresponsible to ignore them .

WHITE TAILED EAGLE still present today, it is spending most of its time in Hampshire but when it drifts north it occasionally enters Wiltshire airspace once it passes over the woods by Tidworth, there are also 2 Peregrines, up to 12 Buzzards there and a ringtail Hen Harrier was there this morning. 2 Brambling and 1 Barn Owl at Nightingale Wood, South Marston (Steve Davies).

WHITE TAILED SEA EAGLE still present near Shipton Bellinger (Don Smith). 300 Bramblings in Beech clump by Imber Range Path but mobile at ST910510, 30 Corn Buntings with Brambling and mixed finch/bunting flock at Bratton Vedette (Rob Turner/Mike Hamzij). 3 Crossbills sitting on wires over grass field about 1 mile west of Maiden Bradley, not far from the conifers of Tyning Wood ST781381 (Ian Draycott).

A tour of all of the Wiltshire pits in CWP yielded 81 species and some amazing counts by Nigel Pleass: 4 Little Egrets, 377 Wigeon, 111 Gadwall, 190 Red Crested Pochard, 2 Scaup, 226 Teal, 45 Shoveler, 1 Pintail, 721 Tufted Duck, 327 Pochard, 29 Goldeneye, 10 Goosander, 2309 Coot, 94 Moorhen, 440 Lapwing, 112 Snipe, 2 Green Sandpipers, 1 Dunlin, 7 Kingfishers, 5 Water Rails, 6 Cettis Warblers away from CWP68, Stonechat, 87 Long Tailed Tits, 13 Goldcrests, 17 Bullfinches, 8 Redpoll and 8 Siskin.
