Bird Identification

This section illustrates pictures and activities in the West Wiltshire Ringing Group which we hope are of interest to ringers both new and old.  It will also cover project which are currently on the go in West Wiltshire and the Cotswold Park Ringing Group - which covers the Cotswold Water Park within the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border.

If you would like to become a ringer contact the BTO (www.bto.org) for further information in training to ring birds. You will need to be trained by an ‘A’ permit holder, who has a ‘training endorsement’, who also needs to recommend you for a ‘C’ permit before you can have a license under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 by the BTO.

We would welcome comments and papers which would be of benefit to ringers. Also, if you have photos of birds covering moult and techniques for ageing and are willing to share your knowledge please feel free to submit and we will acknowledge and place on them on our web site.
